London’s vehicle scrappage scheme to support the Ultra-low Emission Zones (ULEZ) have proved to be a success, according to a report by Transport for London (TfL).

The Mayor of London and TfL launched the London-wide ULEZ scrappage scheme in January 2023 to support the expansion of the ULEZ to outer London. It followed the success of the Mayor’s previous scrappage scheme to support the ULEZ to central London and expansion to inner London (October 2021).

The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command is leading the investigation due to its expertise in incidents involving explosives and made the two arrests on Monday 18 December.

A trial of Ford Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid vans in London's Ultra-Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) has shown that PHEV commercial vehicles could present the most practical, readily available option for businesses trying to meet clean-air targets in cities.

The trial consisted of 20 Ford Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid vans covering 150,000 miles over a 12-month period. The trial sought to test whether businesses could carry out the typical daily duties of their diesel-powered vehicles, while maximising the use of zero-emissions electric-only mode.
