EV Safe will ensure the safety of key workers who interact with High Voltage (HV), such as first responders who need to understand how to safely shut down an EV following a road traffic collision and how to identify safe cutting points to enable extrication.

The Department for Transport (DfT) has introduced a temporary relaxation of the enforcement of the EU drivers’ hours rules in England, Scotland and Wales for drivers involved in the delivery of Operation London Bridge during the National Mourning period.

This relaxation reflects the urgent case resulting from the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the need for substantial amounts of goods and numbers of personnel to be moved at short notice to support the main official ceremonial events taking place across Great Britain.

Research from Enterprise Rent-A-Car has highlighted that unmanaged business travel in grey fleet is a challenge for employers across much of Europe.

Across the UK, France and Germany, 62% of grey fleet drivers don’t regularly conduct essential basic maintenance checks to ensure their cars are safe and legal to drive. Nearly half (48%) of those that currently have a warning light showing on their dashboard do not plan to have it checked.

Ford recalls Kuga PHEVs amid overheating concerns

Ford has temporarily stoped sales of its new Kuga PHEV due to concerns over overheating battery packs, and customers have been told not to charge their car until further notice, Autocar has reported.

Ford has said the sale of Kuga PHEVs built prior to 26 June 2020 has been suspended temporarily.

The statement says "information from the field indicates that four vehicle fires are likely to have been caused by the overheating of the high-voltage batteries".
